Thanks for all the grub screw stories, I feel a little better
I did notice set screws come with different end shapes and might experiment with that.

On a new headless topic....
I've always felt wary about headpieces that use grub screws to clamp directly to a string. Yet I've never heard of one breaking or letting a string go loose in the 40 years I've been taking notice. Is that what everyone else here is seeing?
I've heard a few cases of strings being crushed and not installing (flats I think), but never a failure once a string is tuned to pitch. I've got a few headless projects in the works so my paranoia is creeping up.
I'm about to do the same to the XL2.I recently strung the L2 with LaBella double ball end Flats and it’s amazing
Why not.............. You know what i'm about to post.................

Geraldton WA?
It originally had 2 EMG soap bars and an preamp with volume, balance, bass and treble. That looks cool
Interesting pickup configuration. Give us more details! (And pics)
And a hunka-chunka-brass shows up this morning!I contacted them directly and was able to score a solid brass one-piece headpiece. It’ll be here this week.![]()
Very good news, based on our initial messages he needed detailed dimensions… so I took apart my 5’er to take a bunch of photos and created a very detailed drawing with measurements from 4 elevations. He’s using that to build a couple of brass 5s for me. I’ll let you know once the first one is complete and hopefully will be able to post a photo of 2.I’m talking with him, no 5’s yet but I’ve offered to provide dimensions from my 5 so he can model it… stay tuned
