headphone AMps

I have a sampson, its cheap - its ok, the tone is overly mid heavy, but perhaps intended so as to help hear your lines while tracking with a drummer

I would prefer one with a more true sound, still It gets the job done, I can mix my sound with the monitor out, everybody's happy

using Sennheiser headphones & JDI with my passive basses

I've been using a Carvin H400 - but with 'less than favorable' results. I don't know if the unit is bad or if I am somehow using it improperly, but there is an obnoxious 'clipping' that seems to happen when all 4 headphone jacks are in use and there are audio feeds to Channel A, B and the Aux. ins (the more me inputs).

I suspect that Channel B on this unit is faulty - but I still have troubleshooting to do before I can say definitively where the clipping is coming from.
