headphone practice solution

Yeah, I already have the iThing worked out (see pics above) but I am looking to consolidate some things so I am specifically looking for an Android app to do the same thing.

If you find one, please post here with the details. I have an Android phone too so I would be interested in one as well. Any discussion I've been able to find on the subject says that there are some low latency problems with the Android OS that need to be addressed before an app can be developed.

I also have an old iPod. If I could find something like an iRig (just the adapter) that works with a simple MP3 player, that would work too.

Great discussion. For me, just for me, I like the solutions using the Tascam BG-10 or the Tascam MP-BT1 and similar units with the built-in MP3 player. Simplifies the practice setup - just plug in the bass and headphones. In the past when I had an external MP3 player going to a practice playalong, I found even that a too distracting setup, again, just me. The cost is higher for the Tascam solution, but in the long run, from my own past experience, it will be cheaper.

12/29/2011 - I bought a Tascam GB-10 and love it. I plan to buy a Tascam foot switch to simplify things further. I paid $98.00 for the unit at H&B Photo. Invalid Link Removed

I picked up an iRiffPort to connect to my iPad and headphones, and I use the PocketGK app. Love it. Nice GK sound, changes pitch and speed of MP3s and loops song segments. Not cheap at $99.

I agree that the iRiffport is the way to go for simple, quiet practicing. It works great woth the pocket GK app. I prefer this setup over the iRig. I met Kevin from Pocketlabworks at Namm this past week and he is super great to talk to and he really cares about his customers and their satisfaction. I had an irig and I did the discount trade up deal he has advertised on his website. Good deal!

I figured I'd post since I've been following this thread. Based on everything I read I ordered the Xenyx 802 ($49.99) and it should arrive today. I looked at the 502 but figured that for the extra $10 the added features of the 802 were worth it. I plan on plugging in my bass, ipod, digital recorder and computer speaker outputs. That way I don't have to keep switching the cord from my powered speakers around to whatever I want to listen to. My amp does not have aux inputs or headphone jack. Thanks for the discussion.
