On my P, I have "Pretty Boy Blue" where "Precision Bass" would be. It still says Fender as well. After I'm dead, if someone mistakes it for an actual model, they don't deserve to play an instrument.

It's not a matter of anybody buying anything based on my visibility, I find the blatant logo and branding in many modern products offensive. I don't wear clothes with obvious logos either. I find a big waterslide decal on the headstock of a guitar in very poor taste. That's my personal opinion. When I buy a car, I take the dealer's license plate frame off. I just feel like music might be better off if people cared (one way or another) a lot less about logos. In some of my other life pursuits I am occasionally involved in racing that has sponsors... in those cases, it's a contractual deal, the company is paying to have their logo placed on something, so fine. Otherwise, I feel like we're being co-opted into caring about something that's not in our best interests.
As for resale, I play (badly), not collect. Collectors have their own thing going on (not my thing, but carry on if that's your thing).
All this talk of legality only come into play if it involves commerce. I have every "right" to put any logo I want on anything as long as it stays in my possesion.
I get where you are coming from, and I keep what I buy (for decades and longer). But no need to kill re-sale value - a piece of tape works as well. As a buyer, you know what QC different brands have.
Excessive for sure, but point taken, it's a big sliding grey scale for sure...I sand the decals off my Fender basses the first time I change to non-Fender strings.
You would also be incorrect.

I rebranded these carrots which d I'm hoping to sucker one or more peeps into purchasing at the tune of $17.99 a lb.
Wish me luck!

I was going to put a Fender decal on my lunch box. Maybe I should forget all about it!Please elaborate. Everything I've ever read about intellectual property law (and I deal with this stuff a lot) implies that infraction involves sale or some kind of mass not-for-profit giving away of the item in question.
Are you really saying I can't put that Ford logo sticker on my Mazda?

At this point you'd have to pay me to use the real article, just too many diminishing returns at the price point.
