Headstock Tuners - Who's Using What...???

I use a fender and a korg when I do use them. The Korg more often because the battery life on the fender is HORRIBLE. The korg I haven't had to replace the battery since I got it. Those are the two I've used/use.

I have the planet waves mini - it is a great tuner with just a couple exemptions. 1. The batteries don't last all that long. 2. It is not very reliable in a loud situation like a gig with other instruments making sounds, at least for me - it jumps around alot in this kind of situation. 3. It sometimes struggles to pick up the low B at a speed that I prefer. In home use etc it works pretty well, but I continue to have my Korg Pitchblack at all gigs and have the headstock as a backup.

The Snark is where it's at. If you use Dunlop Dual Design Straplocks you can attach the Snark to the button and it hides behind the strap and works perfectly. Genius? I think so too.

Blue Snark. Works ddown to the de-tuned D with no problem.

Black Snark. Battery seems to last a long time and no amount of background noise seems to affect it. Anyone having trouble with a low B ,just hit the harmonic at the 12th fret.

Blue snark in the practice room and studio for me works fantastic. It can be a bit touch and go in live gig settings where there's a lot of noise around you.

I have a Snark. It only sees rehearsal and home use. I don't trust any of the clip on tuners in loud environments.

you have to get the ones without the onboard mic , blue or black snarks , the reds have the on board mic which has a habit of staying live even if it says its off. we use them every show , no problems at all . hell we will even toss one or two back and forth between songs to make sure everyone is tuned and ready to go for the next song , works great

I have the black one. I guess I just don't trust it. I'm concerned, if I'm tuning while the house music is thundering, it won't read well. It's cool for rehearsals. I have a pedal tuner that works great for live use.

I just ordered a black snark from eBay. $10. Hopefully it's a good one. I've used one by fender and korg. The fender worked the best but the battery life really sucked. I had to change it every couple months. And I barely used it. The korg I've had for almost two years and I've changed the battery once but it's a little cictchy when it tubes. It works. But I imagine there's better ones out there.

I use the black Snark exclusively, and I've never had a problem with it. Easy to use and easy to replace the battery even.

Used to keep a black snark clipped to the bridge of my DB. It worked great. I now use a pedal board with a pedal tuner instead.

I have a Planet Waves Mini or Micro that lives on each bass I gig. They work pretty well, and let me get tuned before I'm even plugged in. My pedalboard has a Sonic Research Turbo Tuner ST-200, which works better (faster, more stable, more accurate) than anything else I've ever tried, so for gigs where I use the pedalboard, that's what I prefer.

I use a blue Snark. I leave it fully exposed on the headstock of my bass, and I don't give a crap what people think of that. If they don't like it they can come and tell me to my face, but they're gutless wonders so I'm not too worried.

I've got a Korg PC-1 - found it lurking in the bottom of a gig bag that came with a guitar I'd just scored. It's great. Doesn't like alternate tunings though.

I have a Snark(red) and a couple of the D'Addario NS Micro tuners. The D'Addario is less conspicuous, and works OK, but the Snark has a better display and is MUCH better at reading the Low E. I'm hoping the Snark doesn't break, but it seems to be holding up well.

I just picked up one of these. It's hard to see on the electric, but it's perfect on the DB. It's a Snark S-5 Mini clip on tuner.

Love love love my snark. I have re-glued-together the one in my gig bag a bunch of times tho, so I often end up just grabbing the old Korg. I keep another snark at home that I've never broken (because it doesn't leave the house) and will hopefully use that thing every day until I die.
