Hearing help

Hi Guys.

i had been playing Bass for almost two years now.

But i need to improve my hearing skills,

Does anyone know a easy song to start out, and does anyone know any listing techniques.

Hope you understand what i am trying to say.

Mads

i find alot of it is just playing with other people.

when i started playing with a band, my hearing got alot better because:
1. i was able to find the roots of chords
2. i was able to pin point intervals from the root and make bass lines that i could hear in my head

i know it may not be alot of help to you, but with my students, i do an excericise where i play a note and i get them to find it on their bass. what is VERY interesting is that some people can find it in 2 trys but it takes some people a lot more trys.

theres a great excericise on activebass web site where they do exactly the same, its worth checking it out.

also, time helps your ear, the more you hear an E note the more you'll just say to yourself "E".

Also listening to songs that you know how to play, the easiest for me is "sweet home Alabama", chords- D,C,G (with the F, C,D fill) but i KNOW a D whe i hear it because ive heard it soooooo many times in that song and said in my head 'D'.

i hope ive been some help!
