Heath Ledger R.I.P.

I don't know who he was as I've never seen a movie that he's been in and I don't watch TV, either.

I will say that I'm not about to condemn the guy for dying, whether he died from accidental or purposeful overdose of drugs, or whether they were legal or illegal.

I'll also say, may he rest in peace and may his family and friends find some comfort.

I was watching CNN and they were interviewing an entertainment journalist who knew him well. He was speculating that this may have been accidental. Apparently Mr. Ledger had a hard time sleeping for some time now and took many sleeping aids like Lunestra and such. This guy thinks that maybe he was trying to get some sleep and took too many pills. We'll never really know what happened.
That seems to be true. He was interviewed by the New York Times a couple of months ago, and he mentioned taking sleeping pills.

NYTimes said:
It is a physically and mentally draining role — his Joker is a “psychopathic, mass-murdering, schizophrenic clown with zero empathy” he said cheerfully — and, as often happens when he throws himself into a part, he is not sleeping much.

“Last week I probably slept an average of two hours a night,” he said. “I couldn’t stop thinking. My body was exhausted, and my mind was still going.” One night he took an Ambien, which failed to work. He took a second one and fell into a stupor, only to wake up an hour later, his mind still racing.

RIP Heath.

Don't know if it made it to the US, but "Two Hands" is one of my favourite Aussie movies - I think it may have been what made US film makers sit up and take notice of Heath Ledger. Take a look if you can.

Most Aussies are pretty proud when one of their own makes it in Hollywood. Its a pretty sad day.

+1, he was good in that one.

Shocking news really. I didn't realise he was only 28, I thought he was in his early 30's. Puts life in perspective.

yeah, 28 with a 2 year old kid. Very sad. Rest in peace Heath

I had the television on around 5 when this broke on local CBS news. I was absolutely stunned. The guy was so young. Its really sad. I remember when I saw the trailer for the new Batman flick I was stoked when they showed him as the Joker. What a waste of a talent. Hope it was not something stupid like addiction. R.I.P.

I thought it was weird that I heard about it an hour after he was found. News travels fast, especially when your gf is very into movies.

sad though, I am excited to see him in the new batman, it looks very good.

I think they will just get a new actor for the third film. With the writers strike going on it would be hard to re-write it anyways... I'm thinking with how disguised he looks in the previews it wont be hard to find someone else to fill that look

The first movie I saw him in was monster's ball where he did an awesome job, the scene where he confronts his father in the living room is chilling. I'm very anxious to see The Dark Knight, and I'm confident his portrayal of the Joker will be the best seen so far.

Rest In Peace Heath
