Heath Ledger R.I.P.

You asked how he was important. I liked his acting, he seemed nice, probably about the same as your opinion of him. He was just an actor and I liked him well enough. But it was a big deal as every premature death is. He seemed like he had a lot more ahead of him than behind him, and it was a really awful, sad event for a lot of people. A lot more people have heard of him than the untold others who died on the same day, so it's natural the people will discuss him on a forum. Nobody said it was the end of the world but surely it doesn't affect you if people want to grieve on a public forum. It's not irrelevant, and for someone that doesn't dare your sure coming off as overly invested in the subject.

Your first post in this thread was in pretty bad taste. You're not responsible for people's reactions to your posts, but then again why be a jerk and say stuff that I'm pretty sure you know might rub people the wrong way? What's the point, especially if you didn't care about the man, may he rest in peace?

Because I'm entitled to my opinion, and to express it within the rules. As for the rest of it, that's JUST YOUR opinion. As for bad taste, pfft.

He's dead. He's not resting anywhere. He no longer exists.

i wonder...did people show up in the joe zawinul and oscar peterson R.I.P threads and start talking about how unimportant they were and about dying babies in africa? why is this so different...an artist and a babyfadda is dead, and it's sad.

I agree with the last bit. But just because you're entitled to act like rectal orifice doesn't mean you're compelled to. What motivation, other than perhaps earning some trolling glory, do you have for posting your statement? I'm not talking about entitlement here, I'm talking about the deliberate choice you made revealing your thoughts to everyone here. What motivated that decision?

To put it in perspective, and hopefully add some r-e-s-p-e-c-t:

Not too long ago, a couple 100 thousand people lost their lives in a tsunami; now it's just yesterday's news, so I don't think that Heath Ledger's passing will hardly alter the Universe...BUT-

He succeeded and gained fame as an Actor (about as difficult to make a living at as a musician!) and by all accounts, he was a fine actor.

He appeared to work hard and care about his craft, and as far as I can see, he was a pretty decent guy that didn't get caught up in a lot of tabloid nonsense like Britney, Lindsey, and so on.

But most of all, it appears he was a loving Father and Son, and age 28 is way too young to die. But when it's time, it's our time I guess.

Sad to see if happen; it's a shame when anyone has an untimely death. RIP Heath.

This is just sad. I can't explain exactly why, but what a waste of a young life. I think what is most sad is that his 2 year old daughter is now going to have to live her life without a father... Accidental death at his own hands is still suicide. I am sorry, he destroyed his daughters future, not to mention tormenting his family for the rest of their lives.
Suicide is the supreme act of selfishness. It is a sad thing none the less.

OK A9X, enjoy living your life in your own way. Keep expressing your opinions, but don't expect anyone to respect them. Apparently you think if someone died their memory should be treated as insignificant.

Your attitude is remarkably immature, but hey, that's just my opinion.

Not trolling at all. However, apart from his family (whom I'm sorry for, as I would be for anyone) what the hell difference does it make, just because he was an actor?
