I'm lucky in that after holding my first Ric I lost all GAS for them
That said, I still think they are one of the coolest looking basses to ever be produced.
I tell you, holding a Ric certainly kills the romantic aspect for a lot of us. It nearly killed it for me. If you're used to Fender-style basses, the contours, the hand/pickup positions, etc., a Ric can be downright disorienting at first.
But I aclimated to them, now I hardly notice a difference.
Not to boast, but I think there is something to be said for being able to aclimate to a guitar. There are a number of slab guitars and basses that are worth the effort.
