Hi, I'm new here and this is my first post. I've been scouring for information on this but I never find anything of use. I'm planning on getting one of the new Schecter Hellcat VIs with the Jag pickups but I also need an amp. I'm mainly a guitarist though and need a suitable amp for that as well. But there's some crossover in what I like in both. For guitar, I want a lower wattage amp, nothing more than 30. I love the sound of tube bass amps. I was thinking of getting a Carvin V3M since it can go from 50W, 22W, and 7W.
What really sold me on the Bass VI was Phil X's demos of them on Fretted Americana's youtube page. He was playing through a 18W 1x12 Tonemaster and a 30W 2x12 AC-30. I want those kind of tones so I think a guitar amp is what I want. But those amps seem like they would be underpowered. So I'm assuming 50W would be better. I was planning on getting a 2x12 cab for guitar and a 1x15 cab for bass.
Is there anything wrong with this setup? I know it would suit my needs perfectly for guitar but how about bass? He recently did a demo of a P-Bass and he mixed the Evil Robot in it and that's the kind of tone I want. It seems like a bass through a guitar amp is what I like most. I'm mainly worried about the power though. Is 50W through a 1x15 enough to gig with? I want a raunchy and dirty sound. I should also add that portability is a huge factor.
