Hello Fellow Bassists

First post for a long-time lurker. It’s time for me to emerge from the shadows and begin contributing to this wealth of knowledge and experience that is the Talk Bass community.

I’ve been playing bass for the last 21 years and, though I’ve played piano longer, consider bass to be my native musical language. I’m a worship pastor and generally lead worship from acoustic guitar (Martin D18 for those interested) but lead from bass about once a month. My musical happy place is playing bass and singing harmony in a band or as a sideman. Other than serving as a member of worship bands, I’ve been in southern gospel groups, an original contemporary Christian band, and a country cover band—primarily playing around the Central Kentucky area. I’m not currently in a band but I get together with a friend to play traditional Irish tunes a couple times a month. (He plays whistle and flute and I accompany on acoustic guitar.)

I’ve been happily married for 11 years, have three wonderful kids, and a small dog (papillon-chihuahua mix). I’m also autistic (diagnosed at age 33).

As far as gear goes, I like to keep things simple. Here’s my 1999 Fender American Hot Rod P bass and Ampeg PF350 with PF210.
