Hello - my name is Chris and have been playing guitar for a few years - trying to get better - working with a great teacher. Always thought about the bass as my childhood best friend had a Gibson Ripper and I had an Epiphone Scroll guitar at the time (guitars you could buy new at the local music store with a paper route back in the late 70's.)
Looking into it - seems a Bass will only help my guitar playing.
I just bought my first Bass and Amp a few minutes ago (Sweetwater):
Squier Classic Vibe '60s Precision Bass - Olympic White
Rumble 40
I really wrestled with either the Fender Player Series or an American built Fender - but decided to be practical and save a few hundred bucks with the Squire. It is a beautiful guitar. Classic Vibe's seem to have a great reputation.
I have a great setup guy I'll likely use.
Thanks.
