Thanks for the contributions and info here and thanks for having me.
I mostly play guitar but iv always believed being able to play a bit of other instruments is a useful thing in a band situation so i also play a bit of the bass and i am putting together a basic setup so we can jam... Hence me joining here as i want to learn more if only to make inter band relations and composition easier...
Will no doubt be keeping people amused with my stupidity and dumb questions regarding my bass rebuild project

Oh as an amusing side note i play guitar mostly lefty (but also play right handed) same with bass

Your guitar sheet music will flow right into your bass. Instead of strumming the chord we play the notes of the chord one note at a time. Root first, then R-5. The 8 fits nicely R-5-8-5. The 3 and 7 follow. Get as many chord tones in as you can before the music goes off and leaves you.

Major scale box showing scale degree numbers and the root note on the 4th string will be a friend.

D~|---6---|-------|---7---|---8---|
A~|---3---|---4---|-------|---5---|
E~|-------|---R---|-------|---2---|4th string
Find the Root in the first 5 frets, then add the other chord tones, i.e. R-3-5-7

I played bass in bands 20 years ago so it's not a new thing to me however iv always just used whatever equipment there was at hand.... Now i want to learn more about tone and set ups
Im actually teaching our bass player in my main band atm (hes a guitar 1st guy too but not into the lower tuning i suppose im a baritone guitarist more)
