HELP 410 cab question

An SVT or head of similar proportions doesn't exactly fit the vertical 10 or 12 stack particularly well...

I wouldn't recommend those, either. Not unless I had people to carry them around for me. And probably not even then.

Some clarification: 1) my buddy builds cabinets for a living. He works at a place that builds high-quality cabs for other amplifier companies and they put their badge/name on them.

Who does he build bass cabs for? Why not just get one of those?

2) At this point I’m not interested in “just buy a 410 from a big company” or whatever. If this enterprise of researching and building a cab proves to be too much of a PITA, I’ll reconsider. Buying from my friend also means I can choose tolex colors, grill cloth, piping and so on. That’s kick-ass.

It seems you are wanting two things:
1. Give your friend some business by getting him to make you a cab.
2. Having the cab personalised.

Perhaps buy a good used 4x10 cab.
Give it to your cab-building friend to re-finish.
New tolex, grill etc.

Save a lot of time and money and still have a cab personalised to you.

That thought crossed my mind for sure. But yeah I wanna give my business to a friend and he’s a good person. If possible I’d like to have him do it from scratch.

Have you looked at the fEARfuls/fEARless designs?
Seems like thats the way to go.

Then it is definitely best for you to get some good plans for your friend to work from. You can then leverage his strengths in the build while having an excellent cab in the end
