I'm buying soon a 112 cabinet, I will use it with a 250w @ 8ohm little head I have, most of the times on little gigs at pubs, but I need to be sure that I will have enough volume and deep tones, also very important, it has to be something small and easy to transport.

My budget is around 350€, don't want to buy a second hand thing nor saving more money for Markbass, Aguilar... or similar, and I have no possibility of triying it before ordering.

So these are the choices I'm considering:

*Fender rumble 112 v3: always liked fender sound, they look nice, and I know the new combos have nice reviews, but I haven't heard so much about using the cabs alone, they seem to be used more as a combo extension, am I right?

*EBS classic line 112: the price has gone up lately, but, I think I could buy it for the old price in one shop. Good opinions also, but 94db in the specs are stopping me at the moment.

*Eden EX112: good price and small size, but no idea about the sound and the volume, maybe I'm wrong, but it looks a bit "cheap"

*Warwick WCA 112 lightweight: 300w, 97db (not bad!) but a bit bigger and heavier than the others.

Is there another one that I'm missing? Wich one would you choose in my situation and why?
Any kind of help will be appreciated, thank you so much!

In general, I find that attaining a cab that is light, loud, and cheap is not reasonably possible. It seems that you can get plenty of cabs which satisfy 2 out of the 3, but not all of them! I realized that as a gigging pro with no car, I need something light and loud, so I opted for Markbass. I know you aren't considering them, or other options of that ilk, but it may be worth a second thought. It's more money up front, but you're probably making a longer-term investment by getting one of those cabs.

Out of the ones you mentioned, I'd probably also go Fender. I've only played the v3 Rumble combos thus far, so can't comment on their cabs specifically. There was something a little lightweight about the sound of those amps, but couldn't isolate whether that was from the cab or the amp itself. I think for weight and cost of the other options, though, the Rumble is probably the best bet.

I voted Eden because I just ordered one from the local dealer. I bought mine to go with my MarkBass Micromark 801. I went with Eden due to my experience with the brand, and I tried it in the store and it sounded great.

I will say,all the cabs you listed would probably make a good choice. I think the Eden may be the lightest, another one of my reasons.

Check out the Hartke Hydrive 112. Sounds MUCH better than the Eden, EBS, or Rumble that I had. Has a switch for 4 or 8 ohms, so you can get the most out of your amp. Weighs 30lbs.

btw, with a frequency range of 70 Hz - 20 kHz and a weight of 42 lbs on the Warwick, you should not even consider it.

If I had to choose between what you have listed it would be the Eden EX112, but the Hydrive is much better.

I also considered the Hartke, but I had no way of checking it out. I feel confident it sounds great, but the $399 price tag compared to the Edens $249 also influenced my purchase. I see they wieght about the same, 30#

About that Harke, does it also bring more volume than the others? The 4/8 ohm switch is something I think I'm not going to use, at 4 ohm my head works with 500w, so I'm afraid I could blow it up.
Also the price is higher than the others.

No you're not going to blow it up unless you try to. Running a higher wattage amp is very common. Putting a 4 ohm load on your amp is not only for volume, but it brings out better presence and punch. I run a MarkBass LittleMark III into one cab and the difference between running it at 8 ohms and 4 ohms is very noticeable in overall performance.

Yes, this cab will put out more volume and sound better too. The cabs you selected are all lower end(although they are not bad given the price point) and the Hartke is a big step up for a few dollars more.

Why does it have to be a 112? What about a 115 or 210?

I have a bigger amp (fender bassman 250/115), I'm looking for something smaller, easier to transport so I can leave the Fender only for rehearsals.
That's why I don't want to buy a 115, maybe a 210 could work also, but it had to be a tiny one.

I know it's not gonna have the same volume, for that reason I want the one that can be closer to it, with mi little budget.

I swear by the one 12"- it's fast and responsive and can take a good pay load. I prefer a 12"-EV in a TL- front port cab. If u can find one it'll b cheap because someone became too old to pack her around. they ain't lite but a great work horse.

I agree with the Hartke, although it looks small and only saw it online. But, it's getting rave reviews. And yes, 500 watts into 4ohms will make you sound better.

Also, Gallien Krueger has a 112 cabinet, but it's also more expensive.

If you want to prepare for long range solutions, you would do well to consider these higher priced alternatives if you can afford them. If you do get the Eden let us know if you like it. Good luck!

I voted Eden because the first time i heard an Eden it helped me understand what a bass should sound like amplified (to me at least)

I started off with a used GK cab, then moved to a Peavey, Fender Rumble, TC Electronic... the Eden has that modern tone that I love. It's also very tight and punchy. If that's what you're looking for, go for it.

If you want a more vintage sound, consider the Rumble.

The HyDrive 112 is the exact same size as my Berg HT112ER. It almost sounds as good too.

I really like the Hartke idea. But me, I think I'd go for a used Aguilar 112. However, since you don't want used, what about ~490€ for a new one? I see that price all over the internet in the UK. They hold their value better than lower end cabs like the Fender, IMHO.

The Aguilar doesn't exactly fit the small and easy to transport criteria.
