I have a 1982 Fender Fullerton American Vintage Precision bass. It's in my avatar. It's all original with original case and pickup covers.

I may be able to trade it for a Fender Custom Shop 1961 Time Machine Heavy Relic Jazz bass. It's a 2019. Original case and all case candy. Sweetwater sells them new for $4350.

Good move? Bad move? What would you do?

They're both great basses, IMO. I like the relic'd Jazz just as much as the Fullerton AVRI Precision. So, if you want a Jazz and already have another great Precision to play, I'd say go for the trade. Value-wise, you'd be ahead for awhile. But, I'd expect that AVRI to eventually be worth as much as that CS Jazz.

Oh, god no. Keep your '82. That "61" relic job is horrendous.
