well i just got back from the show, and i am mad. its not cause of the oompalompa thing, my band just sucks. my guitarists sting kept going out of tune, so he sounded bad the whole time, i had to sing, and i am not a good singer, and i messed up a few times i think. and then when i got done, my friends come right up to my face and lie and say "good job" i hate it when people do that, its just not right, sorry i posted this, im just mad and had to get it out........

Your friends were being supportive, we should all be so lucky. Of course they're not going to tell you you suck. Two reasons why. A) you probably didn't suck as bad as you think, we're all our own harshest critics. B) they're your friends and their role is not critic, but support.

Spend some time in rehearsals working with your singer on pitch. He won't take criticism well, most don't. Maybe you can make it seem as if you're the one having the problems. If swallowing your pride is necessary, sometimes that's okay. Trick is to figure out whether you're submitting too much to someone who needs more practice, or whether you're helping him grow without him knowing it. Slippery slope.

twi6gy: Most of the people here didn't rush out and tabbed the song for you because they wanted you to pick up the song for yourself. That way, you would have learned a valuable lesson on the bass, to pick up songs by ear. They meant well (the problem being that they almost never tell you that they mean well).
