HELP , is this Rickenbacker Real or Fake....

It's a prototype of the new 2022 range, a Rick look-a-like of a ChickenBacker, the Rick factory trying to copy that China back street craftmanship.
I can help - whenever “some guy” wants to sell you something for $600 that everyone else is selling for $2,000, there’s something wrong with it. People who believe in a free lunch are the easiest to swindle.
$486-$657 CAD currently actually. I’d buy them for 250 all day if that was the price. Fake either way obv

Chinese, from Aliexpress. I bought one a while back. In the ad, the pic looked like they totally nailed it, but what I was shipped was the crap shown in the posted pic above. So, fraud. I complained to Aliexress, and they got my money refunded. And by the way, the bass was AWFUL, in every way. I had also bought a 4005 copy, and a George Harrison-style 12-string copy. All awful, now all gone. I was expecting possible Squier quality, but what I got was 60s Japanese quality. Don't be tempted, you might as well set your money on fire.

It sounds like the guy bought one and is trying to nearly double his investment, which there's NOTHING wrong with in the business world but musicians might disagree when it comes to gear, but you could get a fake yourself for less.
If you really want a Ric but can't afford a MIA one, then at least get a Univox or Ibanez from the 70's or 80's. At least they look and sound real enough and are most likely 34" scale instead of 33" (or whatever Ric is). Sorry, I know this is "bannable advice" to purists, but sometimes compromises need to be made.

Fake. Even though it is neck through (Beautiful BTW), the bridge pickup looks wrong, no mutes on the bridge, and the headstock is at angle that is pitched back more than most real Ricks.
An interesting (to me) history of a wonderful brand (whether you like or despise the company's customer service).

A fairly honest and accurate review. It actually doesn't sound bad through his recording rig, and he's a good player, but watch to the end when he actually issue a verdict. Sounds like.. a cheap P-Bass Copy? ,Maybe? Anything more than the $250 he paid is a true ripoff. I've played one in person and... yeah. Bad. Replace the bridge, pickups, electronics, nut, and frets and you'll have... a bass with no resale value because it's a counterfeit.

And then there's This Guy, who has a 5-part series wherein he spends a lot of time and money upgrading a Chickenbacker. Don't know what he spent overall, probably a few hundred anyway. With OEM Ric pups, it sounds.... sorta like a Ric.
50 replies of "fake". But since this thread will go on for 5 more pages anyway I'm going to say it's real. 100% real Rickenbacker goodness. Nothing will change my mind.
