Peavey Foundation (early to mid 80's vintaged) or Squier Standard Jazz circa 1992.

The link to the peavey is from CL. i talked with the owner and the thing has seen its fair share of battles. a couple of chips through the finish and lots of swirls and cracks.

the squier is at the local music shop for about the same money but without a case. it is used but in very good condition. sorry no link.

usually play some blues to classic rock style living room jams through my mid 70's sf bassman 2x15.

I'd go with the Peavey. 1992 squier's are not renowned for being the best..

I bought a used Foundation on ebay for $200. Never regretted it...not for a minute; I would call them a bargain @ $300. Foundations are great basses, even more so considering how little they sell for.

I wish Peavey would reissue a MIA Foundation; I'd love to have a brand new one that someone else hadn't put their mojo into. Unfortunately, Peavey seems to be going the other direction: offshoring all their instrument production.

I'd buy any number of inexpensive basses over a Squier.
