Help Me Decide on a Reverb Pedal!

In days old, when magic filled the air, I had me a Digitech XP-400. I sold it 'cause it wasn't being used (and somehow became much more valuable than when I bought it), but lately I'm starting to miss it.

Here's the deal, I really only used it with really cavernous reverb settings (personal favorite was called "Parking Garage" IIRC) to create huge, indistinct swashes of sound. Since it had an expression pedal, being able to gradually build up to that tone made it infinitely more useful.

I really don't want to go through the time and effort (not to mention the cost) of getting another XP-400, so I'm very open to suggestions.

I currently have an RV-3 and am unsure about how much I like it. I've had it for a LONG time but I don't know. I haven't found any good settings for normal playing. I currently have it on a very long, drawn-out reverb setting that sounds great but is useless in an actual song.

I've owned the RV-3 and the Tech 21 Boost RVB. I didn't bond with either. The RV-3 sounded better on guitar and the RVB got too muddy at most settings. I'm not really digging any of the verb settings on my M9 with bass either. I've learned that I prefer delay for ambience, but I wouldn't kick a RRR out of bed if I ever woke up next to one

Hmmm... I'm probably going to have to sit down in a store with the RV-5, DynaVerb, Cathedral, and an RV-7 and compare them. Then find someone with an RV-3 and/or an RRR I can try.

I would defiantly consider, the EHX Holy Grail. Its a great "ambient" reverb, but it doesn't get too crazy without some volume loss.

I own the RV-5, and have A/B'd it with the Dynaverb.

Couldn't honestly tell the difference, except that the RV-5 hasa bunch more settings, and each of them is more tweakable.

I vote RV-5. Never heard anybody say anything bad about it.

I'm very interested in what you think of the RRR. I'm going to stick with the PT-mini setup that I have and would probably replace the RV-7 I have sitting on there currently.
If you haven't considered it before, please make a review and some clips if you could.
I eagerly await it with bated breath.

The Octo setting and the mix knob on the Line 6 Verbzilla is excellent. It is an extremely versatile pedal. I currently have that and a Strymon BlueSky.

If you need a less versatile pedal than the Verbzilla, but that is more natural and lush sounding, the Wet is amazing. However, I really find it pretty crucial to have a mix knob on reverb if using it on bass in a mix.

The RRR is great too

Right now, I'd say the biggest GAS that I have is for the Dr. Scientist Miniberator A.K.A. RR(mini)R for its small size and great sound, or the Strymon Blue Sky Reverberator for its cool features and great sound.

Actually, in my case, I use reverb a lot of the time.

I picked to last option. I actually do like reverb but not pedal ones. I like springs. I think someone makes a real spring pedal but I can't remember who.

That may hold true for the music that you are playing. However, I am playing things that reverb sounds good on. I am not recording direct, and usually when reverb is engaged, it is on for the entire song.
