So I'm looking to get a small-sized reverb at or around the size of a 1590B (MXR size) for the larger "fun" board that I am working on. I've been reading up on a few different reverbs, and currently own a Hardwire RV-7 which works decently well for me on the "utility" board. I'd like to know what your thoughts on reverb pedals are and how they stack up to each other. :help:

Option 16 is as close to "Carrots" as I'm giving you. :atoz:

Doh! After further investigation, The original Dr. Scientist RRR (non-mini) does not seem to be a Belton variant reverb. Unfortunately, I cannot or do not know how to edit the poll. (this needs to be an option... please? ;))

I say Boss DD-7, you can make reverb tones and have fun with ALL of the other features with it. I know, this was a stupid answer.
I've owned a BOSS DD-7 before. The reverb tones that it could make were a little limited for my tastes. I also didn't use it nearly enough to keep it on my board. (It went neck and neck with the RV-7 for a while on the utility board before I finally decided to keep the Hardwire)

I have a RV-7 as well, I've always thought it's kinda chunky. lol

Reverb + Bass = Boomy sound.

Do you want to sound boomy?

It's a desired effect in some of the things we play. It also accents volume swells with a volume pedal, another desired effect in some of the tings we play.

I wouldn't really classify reverb + bass as "boomy." I've had some pretty good success using reverb, even in my church sanctuary, which is naturally reverby on it's own. It also depends on what you want to do with reverb and how you use it. Check out the Invalid Link Removed videos (the other 15 are linked below this vid). They're awesome... I bought a POG2 and Hazarai because of them and have mimicked a few of that guys sounds on bass with great results.

Said Effectology vids are why I voted for one not listed. The EHX Cathedral seems pretty amazing and is on my short list at the moment. Mutt, I know it's a pretty big pedal compared to the size you're after, but might still be worth checking out... it's pretty spectacular, IMO. If/when I set up my Death Star board again (a Pedaltrain Pro), it'll definitely be on there. The Hardwire Reverb works for me... for now. ;)

5sg.

It's a little chunky, but not much bigger than a MXR pedal. The largest that I think I want to go to is the larger EHX XO size pedal (also the same size as the Hermida, GGG, and BYOC)

This is actually where I am using my reverb pedal currently, in a church praise band.

[the EHX Cathedral]...Mutt, I know it's a pretty big pedal compared to the size you're after, but might still be worth checking out... it's pretty spectacular, IMO. If/when I set up my Death Star board again (a Pedaltrain Pro), it'll definitely be on there.
I actually just moved away from a Pedaltrain Pro (it was killing my back getting it in and out of the trunk every week). I've been looking into the Cathedral, and the hold function would be pretty cool, but it's quite big and would eat up a great deal of room on my board (Pedaltrain 2) that already has a PitchFactor, ModFactor, and B:Assmaster on it. I'm considering getting the B:Assmaster rehoused in a smaller enclosure since there is so much room inside the case.

the boss RV-5 has the best sounding reverb for the price IMO. idk about the hardwire reverb, but if i had to go with anything else besides the RV-5, it would probably be the EHX holy/holiest grail or the cathedral reverb. haven't heard of any of the other reverbs you listed.

i have, and am happy with, my boss RV-5

but when i gave the EBS dynaverb a test drive, i was in love. if i needed reverb more frequently, i'd buy that one without considering any others.
That's pretty much the general idea that I am getting from the poll. Seems to be that the RV-5 and DynaVerb are in the lead with 7 votes each.
Looks like I'm going to have to try both of them, and maybe also a Dr. Scientist RRR/RR(mini)R.
Now all I need is some cash, or for someone to trade me for things I'm selling. :D
