Help me pick a Chorus pedal

I mainly like a medium-mild chorus sound and found the MXR Analog Chorus (M234) to sound really nice. I A/B'd it against the Boss CEB-3 Bass Chorus and liked it a little better and it was cheaper. The Boss also sounded pretty good too.

I also have an older Boss CE-2B and it does a good job as well.

I am not into all the wacky extreme choruses, so if you're looking for that type of sound, you may want to look elsewhere.

I just ordered an Alexander Wavelength.

Unfortunately I couldn’t find any bass demos but it has blend and volume control and 4 presets (even more with midi).

I already have too many one knob pedals and will not buy one without a volume control anymore.

What may be a nice volume bump when you engage a pedal just to add to your clean signal, can be way too much when combined with octave and fuzz.

Main concern is I don't want something that has a huge volume drop. Must have some sort of blend or crossover function.

I've got my eye on a few per the poll. Interested to hear people's thoughts.

I’m having fun with this one. If you want just a simple chorus it’s definitely worth a look. Modulation and distortion both independently engaged and has volume control for both. Also capable of switching directions from distortion > modulation or the other way around with a simple toggle switch. I can get some beautiful shoegazy tones out of this :cool:

If you're looking to get your feet wet with Chorus, lots of great suggestions here. I have several>
  1. MXR Analog Chorus -- great retro sound, and can't find a bad setting.
  2. Ampeg Liquifier -- sounded good in the store but I hear noise from it so it's on the shelf more than on my board
  3. Keeley Seafoam+ -- most versatile of all my chorus pedals, has an internal dip switch for bass, gets great New Wave (Simon Gallup, Peter Hook etc) and has a mix blend which you were looking for
  4. Donner Tuttilove -- awesome pedal, similar sounds at the MXR and Boss and cheap!!!!
  5. Boss CE-5 -- has band filtering and another great sounding chorus
  6. EHX Good Vibes -- ehh, I use the Vibe more than the Chorus
MXR, Boss, Donner are very easy pedals that can be subtle or extreme and easy to find a voice. The Keeley Seafoam+ can repro the MXR & Boss but it has a few added bells and whistles that make it worth a try (check demos).

DOD FX72 Bass Stereo Flanger. You can get a nice chorus from this, plus a great flanger.

Lots of great chorus pedals to choose from, and I've tried out many having lived through the eighties golden years of bass chorus playing in clubs and bars. And after all these years, I still keep going back to my old Aria CH-10 chorus. It's very flexible and can be set to be very subtle to far more intense. It isn't so shimmery and is much darker sounding than your average chorus. The dual stage feature is cool to give it a little extra oomph with an increased rate, although I think it would be even better tied to the depth or intensity control. Regardless, it's a very unique sounding chorus which sounds great on bass. I also think it works better with most dirt pedals since it isn't as harsh. The Aria FL-10 flanger is also an awesome pedal. I've seen quite a few of these pedals for sale on eBay or Reverb lately.

I had the ceb3, bought the ehx bass clone, then went back to the ceb3…
Ceb3 with its crossover being a knob just seems better to dial in. Pretty much no effect on the B and E string, a little on the A string and then a lot in the D and G pretty much leaves with an always on pedal I don’t need to mess around with… running the bass clone as always on left everything “metallic” even if not chorused down low still…
