Markbass is no good?

I can get Bergantino, Genzler, Ampeg, Hartke, and Fender stuff new here. I'm in Montana and have one music store unless I want to drive 2 1/2 hours.
Truthfully. No. Markbass is baked in sound. And gaudy in appearance. My opinion.

Go bergantino or Genzler. But online sales should always be an option. You can always resell if you don’t like something, and still be under retail price.

There really is no used market here, except for old Peavey or Crate gear.

The amp in the pics came from the classifieds here - just sayin'... I used the amp and one SW115 at this outdoor modern country gig, with an EBMM Sterling 5 HS - it handled things great, with headroom to spare:

Buy from the Classifieds here on TB, there is plenty of good deals especially on Mesa amps and cabs since a lot of Mesa players are moving their nice amps for the new WD800, I even saw a Mesa D800+ for 675.00 Shipped that’s a 900 amp which is still pretty new to the market..

Everyone's favorite game.

Budget- $1500-$2000 (less is always better)

Country rock and classic rock

My needs:

Light

Loud enough (but good sounding) for medium gigs with a drummer that is good at playing appropriately to the size of the venue. Also good for stage monitoring for larger gigs with PA support (up to smaller outdoor festivals)

Should work well with a 5-string

Roadworthy- I take care of my gear, but it's gonna spend time in a trailer.

I want it to keep me happy a long time. (Well, I always *think* I'm going to stay with one rig...)

Considering:

Genzler 350/10-2 combo, with another 10-2 cab

T.C. Thrust with a couple T.C. RS or K210 (maybe 212?)

TBD vertical 210 cab with a Genzler 10-2 on top and either the M350 head or the TC head.

Markbass Ninja500+a 10 or 12" cab. (I know nothing about Markbass and can't find one locally to try)

Maybe the Fender Stage 800+the matching extension cab

Whatever else you folks can come up with.

Go!

Ampeg SVT Pro 7 (weight 15.5 lbs)
(2) Acme B2 Cabinets - 210 & HF Driver (weight is 50 lbs each)

The Acme B2 cabinets were designed by Andy Lewis. He was wanting to design cabinets which were small and easy to move, and still could handle a low B string. These do it. This combo also has the Ampeg growl.

Of your choices I would go with the Genzler, but I would recommend the Magellan 800 instead because the Drive makes it even more versatile as well as the 2.67 ohm switch.

The TC Thrust is too new for anyone to know anything about it and it also seems like a stripped down BH head although I am not even sure if it even sounds like that or not. Now an RH450 or RH750 is an entirely different animal. Those heads just plain kick a$$ IMHO.

Now if you consider a TC RH head then I would recommend trying one of those as well as the Magellan as they are both different and one of those will sound better to you than the other based on your personal tone goals. The Magellan being more hi fi while still being able to do a nice vintage sound while the TC RH will do vintage tube amp all day long.

The Rumbles are pretty nice if you don't have a lot of money, but since it seems that you do I would just skip it entirely. Again IMHO and IME but YMMV.

I really don't. The guy who got drunk, ran a red light and T-boned us at 55mph, causing the back and one of the neck fractures' insurance is finally going to pay after 3 1/2 years. Most of it is going towards bills, but I'm going to do this one purchase to help myself out. It's going to be a one-time deal, so I want to get it right.

Sorry to hear about that. Hope you are doing much better now.

If that is the case and you don't really have the money to spend, the Rumbles are not bad at all at their price range. If you could swing the Magellan 350 though, that would be the route I would recommend. Good luck.

My local store has the Magellan 350/10-2 combo and a 12-3 cab. They sound good to me and I think I can get a discount if I buy it all together. That would give me some good options. My only concern is the 350 watt max output. Then again, I couldn't believe how much grunt the combo had when running at only 175 watts.

By the way, I use an EHX Battallion for overdrive, and a BP80 for the minimal effects I use.
