Help Me With My Gibson EB-0F

Hi!
It appears I bought a Gibson EB-0F on ebay recently, built in 1962, though when I bought it I thought it was a regular EB-0 from -69. So it was quite a suprise when I realized what I actually bought. :D

The wood is pretty intact, all the hardware and electronics are replaced. I only need to fix the wood by the pickup cavity, other than that it's fine.

Here's a picture by the way:

As you can see, the bridge is changed to a later 60/70s Gibson bridge and the pickup is an old Dimarzio. If someone has information about the pickup please let me know. ;)

What I need is a pickguard and the built in fuzz-effect.

Does anyone have a EB-0F pickguard, preferebly the early one that isn't 2-pieced and can take some high resolution pictures or so and send to me?

And the fuzz, was it the same as Maestro Fuzztone FZ-1 or 1A?
If so I've found the schematics so that's no problem to fix right?

So.... :help::D

Edit: And yeah. Hiya! First post. :)

I know a guy that has one, but I don't know the particulars on the guard. I will check into it tomorrow. IIRC he had to send it out to get the fuzz rebuilt. BTW, I've been looking for one of those silver Model One pickups. Check with me before you get rid of it!

Serial number info, and methods of dating the pots can be
found on www.gibsonbass.com

Not that that is too important as the mods are so extensive.

You will see pickguard pics there as well. The site notes that
they were produced between 62-65 and only 250 were shipped.

Your mission, if you choose to accept it is to find the
parts and restore it to a more original condition.

Here is a look a the 2 point bridge with mute and the typical
original hardware from 1963.

My guess is that only an original bridge from that era would cost me more than what I paid for the bass. NOT that it wouldn't me worth it!
I just lack the financial courage to go for it. :hiding:

The first generation - pre 1977 - nothing different except the color. Like brushed aluminum or whatever...

That's exactly it, brushed aluminum. It sounds great though, plugged it in with my fuzz-pedal the other night and boy can it roar!

Thanks! I believe the outline of it is the same on both models anyway, so please let me know when you've heard from him.

The pickup will stay on the bass, if I don't happen to trip and fall over an original pickup with bakelit-cover or something. ;)

Dang!
Is yours wired with the dual-sound switch? As I recall from one that I had awhile back, it was a pretty useful tweak. You could wire it into a push-pull pot...
