That is an interesting idea. I could get a new Focusrite at GC. Currently recording playthroughs on a cheap Roland GoProX mixer + phone and it distorts bad , clips and basically sucks---no matter what I do, i cannot get a decent recording.

I have never owned a laptop, but maybe somebody would know if something like this HP would get the job done ??

Well, I just spent a bit more than I wanted to, just having a $215 GC gift card, but thanks to @dmt I am going to upgrade my recording gear. Now I just need a focusrite and more know how to use it.
