Hey Guys,I am new around here.
Please don't shoot me I am a lead guitarist most of the time.
I have been bassless for awhile now and purchase a Jay Turser 54 style bass off Ebay.Just to have a beater bass around.
I was a little disappointed in the quality.The neck pickup route looks poorly routed and a couple of the tuners feel a little bent.My main problem is that the bridge was mounted crooked.It appears to be 1/8 to 3/16 out of line.This in turn leaves the strings running to the top side of the pole pieces instead of directly over them.Because the holes are only out of wack a little ways it is impossible to redrill new holes without making a mess out of every thing.I had intended to upgrade the bridge to a cheap aftermarket high mass bridge which would have been a drop in replacement.

The bass is playable but it still irks me about the bridge.What do you think would be my best solution???????

It's a Jay Turser, what do you expect? Seriously, you could readjust the bridge yourself, if you're comfortable with a drill and a screwdriver. It's not very hard to place it exactly. Just measure carefully. You can fill the old holes with wood putty and some toothpicks, let it dry and then redrill the new holes. Or you can buy a replacement bridge, which may have holes in different locations.

The fact that the strings do not sit directly over the pole pieces is not really a big deal. It doesn't affect the sound because they are not that far off.

Thanks for your input Dean.I was curious as to whether on not the wood putty would work.
Do you think the wood putty would work better with toothpicks mixed in with it?????
Yes i know it is what is.But a crooked bridge is pushing it.Thanks again

Thank You all for your input.I will hit the hardware store this week and see if I can find some small dowel material.Or perhaps I may have to enlarge the holes some to get things to fit tight and right?????
I do have 1 more favor to ask though:help:
Could someone who owns one of these please give me a measurement either from the top of the nut or below the nut to a point on the bridge so I know if my bridge is leaning uphill or downhill.Your help would be greatly appreciated!!!!
I went ahead and ordered a heavier bridge(linked above),some D'Adarrio Cromes 45-100,and the bridge & pickup covers for it.I am looking forward to putting it all together:hyper:
