Help,stolen bass

A friend of the family just recently had his house broke into and his bass stolen, but not just any bass, a rickenbacker five string bass that while in service over seas he had custom made for him,I feel bad for him and told him I would put my ears out,any tips leads or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Man, that's a bummer! Does your friend have any pics of the bass, or the serial number? Also, where did this theft take place? (Your location isn't in your profile.) TB is huge, there are a lot of eyes and ears out there. The bass may get spotted and reported.:)

We are both from Lubbock texas, and I am waiting now for him to send me some pics and the serial#,it just sucks cause he is in his early 80's and I keep hearing his voice crack up but I will post as soon as I get them.

And I almost forgot, the insurance didn't cover anything because you can't find a five string from the fifties,so they denied his claim and actually wanted to charge him on fraud.

I don't get it? He has pictures and an actual serial number that I'm sure is on file somewhere at Ric, and the insurance wanted to hit him with fraud, and won't cover his loss? Even if it wasn't a production unit that they can't find any info on, a call to Ric should be able to solve any issues.

I understand that money can't replace the loss of an old special friend, but I sure wouldn't get pushed around by insurance either

I would like to announce that the bass was found,( at a pawn shop none the less)and will be returned on Monday to it's owner, the thief will be charged with felony theft,(more than 500$ in value) and the sad stomper comes to a semi happy ending, thank you all for your willingness to help.

I'm glad for the old dude,he was tearing up at the pawn shop but I'm glad that this time it was for joy instead of pain.I just hope that if it happens to me someone would do the same for me or anyone for that matter
