HELP Warwick Or Ibanez - wich one would you get???

I wouldn't spend $400+ on a rockbass... Used is the best way to go. Would you buy a new ford focus or a used Ferrari if they were the same price and the Ferrari was in new condition.

I have no experience with that model Ibanez but I can say a Warwick Corvette $$ is damn fine bass. Although a German $$ should have an ovangkol neck and wenge fretboard. The stats you have listed for the Warwick appear to be a mix of the German and Chinese rockbass features. I would make sure it's the real deal before pulling the trigger. If it's a rockbass $$ you shouldn't pay more than $500.

Normally I would say warwick, but its the low end rock bass. In this scenario, the ibanez will produce a better tone than the rock bass could ever hope for.

And yes you can definitely find a used German $$ for around $850. I would also look at Streamer Pro M and Fortress Masterman.

Those are two entirely different basses - are you sure you know what you're after?

I'd pick Ibanez because it's got a 3band active EQ, and a single tone is unacceptable in my book plus it has a thinner neck, but that's just me.

What's wrong with used gear? If you are concerned about spending your money on basses wisely, then buy second hand, and depending on condition, you'll be able to buy twice as much. I reckon you could probably get both basses you are talking about here (or very similar) second hand for the total money you have - don't be snobby about it and appreciate how good the stuff you can get S/H is.

Issue is, the Warwick you have listed is a Rockbass model - they're ok, but never worth the money new, a second hand German model will not be much more (there's mine for sale if you fancy a more high end, 5er variant) than a new Rockbass model, and it really is 10 times the bass.

If it comes down to Warwick Rockbass series or Ibanez (non Prestige) series then you are looking at poor resale value anyway. If you buy a second hand Ibanez Prestige, or my advice: a second hand German Warwick, you will be able to sell them on for pretty much exactly what you bought them for, assuming condition stays the same. So not only for the same money would you get a much much better instrument, but you're also making a more sound financial investment - so surely this is a no brainer?

I own a Warwick Corvette $$ and they are awsome. They are very versatile.

But if its between the rockbass and a Ibanez get the ibanez.

I assume you're implying that the $$ has a single tone control?

FYI it has a master vol, a blend, and treble and bass controls (i.e. 2-band active EQ). The $$ also has the ability to set each pup independently as single coil, or humbucking in series or parallel - so if its tonal variety and control you're on about then the Warwick pisses on the Ibanez's bonfire all day long....
