HELP Warwick Or Ibanez - wich one would you get???

I sold an Ibanez to buy a Warwick. Any questions?

I've sold 5 Ibbys to buy 2 Warwicks, and after a few years playing it, I decided to buy abother 2...Ibbys All these were brand new instruments, one W was CS. IMO the Ibanez managed to maintain an astonishing price/value ratio, while the Warwick brand cares nowadays more about the money and less about the customer - sorry, but I'm not buying all that "it's a family" advertising crap. Their instruments are now IMO overpriced: they're good basses, but nothing really spectacular. And their CS prices are ridiculous - I mean 500$ for some fancy fretboard inlays? Give me a break !

Anyway, back on topic: a Rockbass is not a Warwick. I know they're trying to add them as "real Chinese Warwicks", but they're not even close to the real deal. Of course this doesn't mean they're bad, quite the opposite. But if you're after the authentic W sound, then get a real Warwick.

Ibanez basses on the other hand have a horrid resale value, but they're very good basses for the money. Their mid priced basses are better than most of the other brand basses in the same price range. The Prestige are IMO overpriced, but the new Premium line is simply put awesome.

I'd go for the Ibby because I've learned the hard way the extra money you're paying for a W will not always get you a 100% better bass (my Ibby SRT is quite on par with my W Thumb, in spite of being almost 1k$ cheaper) - but that's just me.

My advice is to personally play both basses and pick the one you like the most - regardledd of the name on the headstock. Good luck!

the warwick seems to have more bennefits in every way (nut bridge looks good) ... is a rockbass (it does not says rockbass on the headstock, just the ''W'' but is a RB) but the top of the line one ... here in latin america the used german wicks cost the same they do in germany ... over 3000$$

Where are u located? There are a lot of used warwicks in the classified section, there is one more in my local store, warwick corvette German $ 599. Take a look, ask for shipping to your country, with taxes and shippig will be less than $1000

Warwicks are insanely $$$$$ thats why ya buy used, they drop in price a lot when used.

I assume you're implying that the $$ has a single tone control?

FYI it has a master vol, a blend, and treble and bass controls (i.e. 2-band active EQ). The $$ also has the ability to set each pup independently as single coil, or humbucking in series or parallel - so if its tonal variety and control you're on about then the Warwick pisses on the Ibanez's bonfire all day long....

yeah we've already established he was talking about the rb model as you were and I was talking about the german one

A second hand german $$ will not cost you more than $1500 unless you are getting ripped off.

Mind you, you're probably better getting the cheaper bass and spending the extra money on a new caps lock key....

I got a 1994 Fortress One (made in Germany) last year in avg condition for $350. Had a luther in Ft Lauderdale clean it, adjust it, and clean all the electronics for $250. Plays like new, sounds great, and I have $600 in it. It can be done. Check Ebay once a week for the model you're interested in. Lots of people are in bad shape financially these days and loosing a bass rates higher than loosing a house.

I picked up a used warwick on TB a few months back, and quickly flipped it. It weighed way too much. sounds great, but killer on the back. I prefer the Ibanez SR's , but anything above a gio is good.
