Help with bass pickups plans

I no longer have the schematic/wiring diagram but I'm sure you can find it on the internet as I originally did.
Here's a good starting place: [Invalid or Expired Link Removed]
and here's another good place to start: Invalid Link Removed

I once ripped the preamp out of a Schecter Stilletto and rewired the two pickups using a Les Paul Guitar wiring diagram. I also added a 3 position Les Paul Switch. The results were phenomenal!

Strangely, the pups had MORE output and the tone quality increased tenfold. I had a Volume and Tone Control for each pup and either pup or both with the switch.

The soldering was easy and the results were great.
Go for it!

You need a preamp to have a slap/treble switch, and the preamp needs to have such a feature. The only ones I can think of are the Duncan preamps.

As far as where to place the knobs, find a locations that is comfortable when you are playing. You don't want them in the way, or too close together.

Your body looks very small. Why do you have the knobs right under the strings? They will be in the way, and you will hit them when playing. Look at some other basses and see how they have the knobs away from the strings.

You should always draw out everything on paper, either to scale, or preferably full size, before you cut any wood. Or these days do them on a computer in a drawing or CAD program.

Then make a plywood template of your drawing, and use the template to cut out the body with a router and pattern bit. Take your time and make the template right. That way you won't mess up your body, and if you don't get your shape right, have only ruined a piece of plywood.

As an example, here's one of my basses. They have smaller bodies than some. I was careful to place the knobs in a good location.
