Help with first decent amp/speaker/combo

Hi guys.

It's been almost a year since I started bass. My amp (Ibanez 10W) has had it (the other day I turned it on, and I was picking up a radio station, I'm not joking!)

I'd like to buy a new amp/speaker/combo. I'd like to be able to stack more stuff on later, but it's not a real priority. I don't gig, I just play at home, but I occasionally play with a guitarist mate of mine.

I mainly play 60/70/80/90 rock, and ocassionally metal. I own a Ibanez GSR 190.

My upper limit is $500 AUD. Any recommendations?

Thanks

this doesnt qualify as something you can really stack onto later, but the Behringer BX1200 is basically exactly what your after.

its a 120watt amp and despite the behringer name is actually quite good ive found, is pretty much the go between of a small gig amp and a large prac amp, so you'll have enough power to drown out the guitar if you want to :p

retails at $400 AUD, but obviously after some haggling you shouldnt need to fork out any more then $350 for it
