Help with Flatwounds

EB 2816 are not long enough for 35 scale BTB.

Been use DR legend on my previous SRFF805 (35.5'on B string). I need trim some silk on B string to let the string fit/lay in the nut slot. But..... I don't liking with the tone.

Let us all repeat the mantra:
1) measure from the string anchor where the ball is to the tuner side of the nut;
2) measure from the string anchor to the middle of the lowest string (in this case B string) tuner post
3) purchase a set of strings where the speaking length, or winding length, is between these two measurements.

So let it be written; so let it be done....
I would only add; look that info up in the string length guides in the Stickies area in the top of this forum. Assuming that they're still reasonably up to date...:whistle:

I didn't find any archived threads on this, but does anyone know what flatwounds fit my Ibanez BTB745? I know it's not my usual EB cobalt flats because the silk hung down past the zero fret.
So you've tried fitting the Cobalt Flats on your BTB and they weren't long enough?

I find this strange, cause IME with several BTBs I've owned, I've yet to find the strings that mostly available in the market that didn't long enough. They did come with Elixir Extra Long and D'Addario Super Long scale strings (all 38" winding length). But, so far I've fit them with D'Addario Long Scale (37.1" winding length), GHS Pressurewounds (37.25") and Dunlop Super Brights (37.25") without any problem.

IIRC, EB strings winding length is also 37.25", so the Cobalt Flats should be long enough.
