Help with my effects chain please!

Hello all,

Ive got a few questions regarding my effects chain and am in need of a bit of assistance. As you can see with my photos I run my pedal board out the front of my head in this order
fuzz>sansamp vt>sansamp bass driver with chorus>flanger>delay run through the effects loop of my sansamp programmable bass driver
I also have a dbl166xl compressor run through the effects loop of my Genz Benz GBE600.
Generally I have a great tone that im really happy with. Although when Im using the fuzz or the vt (which I use for a more drivey tone) I get a nasty high pithched squeel/whistle.
Should the vt and fuzz be going through the effects loop? Is it alright to have the compressor through the loop of my head and other effects run through the loop of the sansamp? Can anyone suggest a better way of setting up my effects chain. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

The 166 is ideal through the effects loop. In fact, that's one of the comps I used to test the loop when we designed the amp.

The squeel may be acoustic feedback that's happening because if you are using a LOT of compression (including the effective compression from your distortion and pedal board) there may be enough gain available (when you are not playing, the system's overall loop gain will be at the maximum) to cause the pickup to receive the vibrations from the speaker and with all that gain, pass it back onto the speaker amplified causing more vibrations to be picked up by the pickup etc.

One thing that may be making this worse is a pickup that has a loose magnet core or loose wires in the coil or loose mounting hardware or bad potting.
 
If you're getn a high pitched whistle/squeal sound - that might be a powering problem.
I have the same issues when I have certain pedals running on the same isolated ground together.
I solved the prob. by powering those particular pedals on separate isolation's. (ie. different transformers)


How are you powering your pedals?
