Double Bass Help with this disaster

So my wife knocked over my old Scherl&Roth 3/4 and snapped the neck clean off at the base. I don't know that repairing this is feasible. Also don't know a lot about these basses at all in terms of the value the inidivdual parts may hold. Some local folks are wanting to buy it all off of me and I'm clueless as to what to ask. The fingerboard is in good shape. I have the bridge and tail piece the strings. A transducer mic. A padded bag and two bows. What would one expect to get for it all? And I am assuming a repair isn't feasible but am I wrong?

Best asking in the repair and setup forum, where the luthiers hang out - you might need to provide some better pics of the break area, but this is probably fixable (lots of DBs in circulation that have had snapped necks repaired) so don't despair.

Haha she is fine. She did start crying and later asked if she could "replace it". Still makes me a little nauseated.

That can be repaired.

On the value of your instrument (in the current state, or repaired), and on the repair costs, a luthier may advise you, or maybe someone else on this forum.

Best move this thread to the Setup & Repair forum, and have a look there; there are 2 current threads on this and there must be dozens older ones. This is not the first time this has happened...

You could also take the bass to a reputable luthier in your area and have a chat with them about the repair. It is almost certainly doable, and the price may vary a fair bit depending on what method of repair is decided on.

You'll get more response in the setup and repair forum, but that is a very common repair and if well done you'll get a lot more use out of that bass. At some point, it'll be an economic decision about the value of the bass versus the cost of the repair. I have to think that that bass was worth at least $3500 if carved and $1800 if laminated in the Savannah market. You can get the repair done for a lot less than that in the Southeast.
