Helping with re-stringing

Hi,

First of all, apologies as i'm pretty sure this question will have been asked before; i just couldn't find it.
Basically i recently purchased a set of D'Aaddario flat wounds for my bass. Unfortunately when i went to put the strings onto my bass (Ibanez BTB) i realised that they weren't long enough. The blue fabric at the end sits on the fretboard, up to about the first fret. I will attach a picture to help describe the problem.

Any ideas on what to do? I don't have the receipt for the strings so can't return them..
Will it even matter if the blue fabric is on the fretboard?

You have short scale strings in a long scale bass. Try to sell them here on TB and buy the correct length.

Obviously you should buy the right length. If you don't want to sell the short ones, you could burn off the silk and see what those strings can do...

Are you stringing through-body, or top load?
