Mods: I know this probably doesn't belong here but let a Brother bask in the glow of the main forum --please?
After two years of playing in my living room, spending time buying gear and being a "wanna-be," guess what?
Tonight, I played out for the first time!!!!
I decided that in 2008 I would step out of my comfort zone and tonight I played at the "Famous Dave's Weekly Blues Jam." For those who know, Jam sessions are a bit of a weird animal. They call the tune, they call the key, hit the downbeat and off you go. That's pretty scary since you don't have the opportunity to practice anything. (Even more scary since I haven't played in front of an audience in almost 30 years -- back when I was a Trombone player in the marching band.)
Well, by all accounts, it was a major success. I got props from everyone -- from the jam leader to the people I shared the stage with! (And yes, my Reggie Hamilton/Audere definitely delivered the goods!) Better still, the jam leader told me to definitely come back and get this: One of the guitarists who jammed with me asked me to join a band he's pulling together!
Anyway -- I finally feel like a REAL bass player and I thought I'd share the news!
