Hey Fender- This is NOT cool!

FWIW, I never said it was earth shattering that their standards are so low. I said it was sad.

Fender has called itself the AMERICAN STANDARD... literally! By that logic, it shows people that our standards are getting lower and lower as time goes on. We'll accept a $1,200 bass for what it is because of the name on its headstock, forgiving its imperfections solely based on that factor.

Then again, a lot of people have made the point that this has been going on for years, which I also agree with. Still, no less disheartening.

Well, if you know Roger like I do, they are probably close to it. He's got very discriminating taste. :thumbsup:

I agree with Adam and yes, my 22 are pretty damn good. I have rejected or sold at least 22 others...

What negative energy? This is a discussion. i didn't say that Fender sucks. I am making the point that a bass like this shouldn't leave the factory like this. If the $200-$500 price point fenders can look good, so should the USAs.

One can only pity the poor kid who breaks his back mowing lawns all summer to afford his dream bass and then end up with this.

By the way folks, by way of comparison here is the G&L LB100 that was at the store just a few feet away from the mangled fender in question.

My 78 p has a one-piece body. Most of the 70s natural finish basses ive seen were one piece.

It's amazing to me the number of assumptions you're making, as well as the conclusions you're jumping to about the people here, with so very little (I'm being polite btw, because I actually meant to say "if anything") to support your position.

My SX Jazz has a one piece body but none of my Fenders do.

You know since the L word has come up a few times in this thread, I have to say that one of the most impressive basses I played at sam ash yesterday, playability wise, was a Skykine 44-01 quilt top they had. Fit, finish and action were perfect.

I didn't bother to plug it in however. Bartolinis, you know?
