Hey; let's have a Peavey Grind club!

I am a HUGE Peavey fan. Have a Grind 4, Grind 5 and Cirrus 4.
I just found a strange bass. It says on headstock - Grind BXP. However:
1. it is ACTIVE (with 3 band EQ), the grinds I have are passive.
2. I has a J/P configuration pickups. The grind bxp that I have has 2 VLF humbuckers.
3. Serial number 02050572
4. It has a BOLT ON neck
5. Looks like this Peavey Grind BXP bass guitar | Nighthawk Guitars

Any info on it? Is it Mahogany? is it Basswood? What pickups are on it?

The Grind BXP came in an active version for a short while. They have the exact same parts
as the short lived US models so mahogany body. Pickups,bridge,tuners and preamp are a combination of Chinese and Korean. Not much of an issue,folks rave about the G-bass and it's a collection of Far East parts with a US neck I was too late with my offer for one this weekend

Still have my Grind 4, and bought a Millenium 4, just to convert to BEAD. Wanted to buy a new Millenium back a few years, then they were discontinued as all Peaveys are. Now I see they reissued them?? What's the story behind that?

The BXP Grinds,Millenniums and Milestones never went away, the BXP Cirrus was briefly dropped but came back last year upgraded to the USA spec. Not sure what the situation is regarding the Cirrus re-issue, no distributors outside the USA received them so the only place you could buy them was in the USA. Big problem for overseas buyers was the CITES regs on it's rosewood fretboard and Sweetwater can't to ship outside the USA.

Sweetwater no longer list the new Cirrus in their inventory so I guess it was a flop. Can't say I'm surprised, making a model only available in a country with a prejudice against overseas versions of USA basses is crazy,especially when that country already has plenty USA models on the used market. Just to put the final nail in the coffin, build the bass using restricted materials i.e. rosewood and bubinga.

Yeah, it kinda seems like Peavey is getting out of the bass guitar game. The only thing listed on their site now is the Milestone basses. I think they'll continue making amps, but I doubt we'll see more new basses.

Only used or if you're lucky you may find one NOS someplace. After a production run of nearly 20 years Peavey finally retired the Grind.

Not so , another reissue of the Cirrus is on the way. Manufacture will be in the Czech Republic.
