Hey Motorcycle Fans!

Yes it does.
I cut my teeth running short tracks. We even ran at the Minneapolis Armory indoors on the concrete.

The AMA Grand Nationals still run at the old time 1/2 mile & mile tracks.

Here is the 2012 schedule

It really has been over shadowed by the modern "extreme" sports.

I would love to see some of the kids from the X games try and go into a dirt corner at over 110 mph with no brakes.

They have something like that up here in Auburn California called Fast Fridays in the summer months. These crazy bastards go whipping around a 1/3 mile (?) dirt track at break-neck speed with no brakes. It's an absolute blast to go watch on a summer night with the kids. The dirt flies everywhere from the cycles and the people watching is world class.

I met Kenny Roberts at the airport here in Louisville in 1975 or 1976, we made a big deal about meeting him, autographs and all, nobody else in the airport knew who he was.

I remember reading about Kenny Roberts in all of the Cycle magazines back in the day. I always loved flat track and road racing.

This is Speedway- 1/4 mile I believe, single-speed super-light 500cc beasts that do 70mph, no brakes:

I believe so, but Kenny Roberts will always be the king of flattrackers...

On the almost un-ridable TZ750 he said: "They don't pay me enough to ride that thing"

While King Kenny was the best, my personal favorite was Jay Springsteen. The "Springer" and his XR750 were one of the main reasons I got into racing. I built a Yamaha 650 Special into a tracker, but I didn't have what it took for flat track, so I stuck with road racing and drag racing.

I love watching it, but there is something fundamentally wrong with going 110 m.p.h., sideways, on gravel, on one foot, not "on" the motorcycle, without brakes.
