Hey! So Heavy or Light Bass.

I'd prefer light (to me, under 7.5lbs). I can deal with moderate and heavy basses, but I'm also a small player (125lbs). My p-bass weighs just under 12lbs and it's a bit taxing when I play a bass that's literally 10% of my weight. Thankfully, my Jazz weighs only 8lbs and being 4lbs less makes a (slight) difference for me.

I'm glad there are guys out there that want to buy the heavy basses from guys like me that appreciate lighter ones these days. :D

Now that I have some nice basses with good tone that are lightweight it's like the difference in playing basketball in sneakers or combat boots! Lol :smug:

You could have fun playing either way but why not be more comfortable and enjoy it more and more often?

Never weighed mine, but I have a feeling it's on the heavy side. Swamp ash body Tobias 6, maple and purple heart neck. I'm guessing maybe 11-12 lbs? Sometimes I do get a little collarbone pain on long gigs (3 1/2 - 4 hours), but otherwise no big deal.

I'm 35 and have some minor back problems if that means anything.
