I'll take the flip side on this one:
I just met my new girlfriend's 2 sons last week. I was a little nervous but thrilled she wanted to introduce us. One son was very polite but quiet, and the other was equally polite and became more talkative and then very talkative and comfortable.
I think everyone was a little nervous at first but it turned out great. I didn't know what to expect.
I know I'm not there to be their new dad, and I'm not going to act like it. Just try to be friends for now.

But seriously, trust your mom. She's trusting you by bringing the guy home for you to evaluate. I would take it as a compliment that she wants you to meet him and give your input.

Well, if you've met him and he IS a problem, tell your mom. If you're still living at home and he's a baby lamb hunter you should take action
Not to be rude but you are only entitled to judge this guy on whether or not he treats your mother with respect. As long as he does, then it's up to your mom to decide about the rest of his personality and you should trust her decision.
And all you have to do is be in the same room with the guy, be polite for a short time and not act like you're jealous or resentful. It's not going to kill you.

You know dude, I went through the same thing at 16 and had the same feelings and such. Just chill out, give it time and it will get better.

What if he's cool? Like, he plays Xbox 360, has an iPod (and knows how to use it), plays an instrument, and is an experienced skydiver/skysurfer? Just a thought. A thought that makes me wish my mom had a boyfriend... but she's married... to a very boring dad-like guy

agreed... the only thing worse than knowing your parents have an active sex life is witnessing it in any way shape or form
