My name is Jim, and if there are any guitar players out there (there might be one or two) you may recognize my handle from the Jackson Charvel forums where I'm a regular, or Jemsite where I'm a moderator. I've been playing 'some' bass on and off for decades, but I'm really looking to get into it as a bass player now for writing. Every time I stop to do someting basic on my old crappy Fernandes I come up with more ideas than that bass will let me play, so I'm looking to get a better one and really take the time to explore it and where we can take each other. I've admired many, many bass players over the years, from Paul McC to Andy West and Chris Squire to Vic Wooten and even Dee Dee Ramone (who I had the pleasure of opening for a few times back in the late 70's).

I'm here to learn, share, hang....all that stuff :D And if I end up more like Andy West so much the better!

I've been reading posts for a few days, and it seems like a very cool place. Glad to be here!

Well you know, the original Squires ('84 to '86) were made in Fuji Gen Gakki, right next to (and by the same guys) who made all the top line Ibanezes and Yamahas ;) Those were some really nice instruments!
I appreciate the welcome, I really do. It's nice to be here.
