Hi from Philly Burbs

Hey Everyone --

Joined up a month or two ago but had been reading a lot posts for some time before that. I can already thank Talkbass for two decisions related to this obsession: one, you guys gave me some faith in considering Sire for my new bass, and two, mostly convinced me to get a dedicated bass cab instead of an FRFR system. More to come on how those have paths have evolved.

I've had a junky bass for 20+ years but never really studied it or put effort into it. After leaving my last band (on g**tar), I realized that I probably have more of a natural feel for the bass anyway, and everyone needs a bassist, right? So that's where I've redirected my efforts and it's really paying off. Bought a new instrument (NBD post on that forthcoming) and tried to go back to the start with some very basic youtube lessons. Talkbass has helped me get a solid footing with certain equipment, technique, and tone explorations even just in these couple of months.

Really appreciate the community around here. While there's still plenty of colorful opinions and spirited disagreement (it's the internet), it's generally informative, supportive, and respectful. This is one of the brighter corners of the digital world, for sure. Glad we have a place to share our hobby outside of the hours when the hands are on the frets!

See you on the boards!
