HI im new and i need help

hey just signed up and looking for some help. i play in my church orchestra and my Bass has been giving me a bit of a problem. when i first plug it in its all fuzzy and crackles and sometimes makes no noise at all. but when i tap the strings right above the pickups it comes on (sometimes less now then it did before) im wondering if it is the pickups. and i havent ruled out the amp yet i have a Ibanez GSR200 and Behringer amp with a digitech foot pedal i really would like some help fixing it

well i tried fixing all the wires behind the back plate which included replaceing an entire knob and re soldering a bunch of wired but i am wondering if its a wire INSIDE the pickup

There are several things that it could be. Bad output jack, dirty pots, bad solder joint. Start by individually turning down the volume pots before plugging in the bass. This may help rule out one of the pickups as a problem. Also does it make more noise if you wiggle the cord at the output jack of your bass?

ok well i know it is the P pickups and no no more noise on the output ive been working at this for about 4 months and i am fed up i just want it to work

Have you tested your cable -- very very often overlooked.

Haha yeah cables are often overlooked I let a friend borrow my rig for the weekend and the first night everything worked perfectly the next night he spent an hour trying to figure out why my amp wasnt working only to realize he was using a bad cable moral of the story is make sure your cable is in proper working condition

Great, but if it reappears, do nothing. There's a systematic approach which will allow you to either eliminate components or identify the actual culprit. Actually, the best you can hope for is reproducibility whereas the symptoms appear consistently.

yea thats what ive been trying to find. a way to make it happen. but its so un predicable now idk anymore
