Highly processed bass sound?

I'm currently watching and liking a lot of japanese bass sounds also sometimes USA pop sounds and the bass sounds like a sort of synth? I mean, little or no attack and long sustain instead to have a strong string pluck. A lot of time overdriven buy controlled highs. RN I did somewhat it on my last song but was heavily processed in Ableton. I was looking about tips, compressor fast attack, slow release, ratio IDK? I'm overdriven it at my fender bass man 800 also have joyo double thruster. My personal findings: low pickups ( pickups near string hold them and sustain is destroyed). High mids at top for that creamy sound you can hear in the cellphone. Controlled highs so you not sound like an electric guitar. Also of course finger style, a pick would have a lots of attack. Still more tips are appreciated.

Like this. Sort of overdriven smooth bass with good sustain I think. My bass had good sustain until a week ago. Maybe my strings gets dead? I'm using stainless steel and have already a month old.

Great playing and engineering on that selection with a tight sound design. That bass sound was probably recorded really clean and direct with possibly a touch of limiter the reamped either to a crunchy amp or in the box with both signals with different EQ and compressed in the mix stage. I say this because at some points it sounds as if the guitar and bass are using the same crunch sound when the parts are tightly doubled, other places it sounds like the bass drum and bass are linked with the compressor ducking to get those tight figures. As this is an anime project there was likely a band of studio musicians for the players, possibly just one or 2 players, I couldn't find any credits other than voices.

If you are playing thru a crunchy Bassman, and why would you not, you need to mix that with a clean signal from the PA or a second amp to get that sort of clarity for definition & punch. It's hard to get that from a crunchy amp but you could do it with effects into a cleaner amp by mixing clean and crunch together. .

I hear compression and some kind of saturation/overdrive...

A bi-amp overdrive with clean blend should help. I've always thought that a DS-1 with blend should work for a Japanese type of bass tone. Another option is an anime-based pedal, such as (IIRC) Mio?
