Discussion in 'Hardware, Setup & Repair [BG]' started by Mobiless, Aug 23, 2012.

  1. my badass II cuts my strings badly so i'm thinking about new bridge. And from there I have no idea where to look.. And i hope new bridge will fit badass holes +- ?

You should look at that seller's negs/neutrals.

or you could just get the badass bridge slots smoothed out so they don't cut the strings

  7. Smoothing saddles didnt work for me.. :) I will try rubbing in some graphite but still I think i need new bridge..

So theres Babicz, is there any other bridges?

And btw, its not clear to me - bridge replacing will change sound or it will remain the same?
    BA > Babicz soundwise?

then it wasn't done right; find somebody who knows what they're doing. badass bridges are not typically known to have string breaking issues.

  9. I'm in lithuania and theres no people who can do this kind of job, as same as doing bass setup etc.

I've ordered from them twice and had no problems. They sent what I ordered and quickly. Go figure.

I'm just saying that when it goes wrong, it seems to go very wrong.

I was gonna bring that up, too...

  13. so far the babicz is the only choice, of course i'd buy new badass but these things are expensive, and i'm pretty sure i won't sell my crappy badass, i can try selling it without saddles but then i will definitely won't sell it..

trouble is, the babicz doesn't have the exact right spacing to put the strings right between the pickup magnets; it's a little narrower.

not a big thing, but a thing nonetheless.

it might be cheaper to get some bass nut files from stewmac to smooth out the badass slots yourself.

I got one from this seller with no issues. I put it on my VM jazz. There is a Badass vs Babicz video on youtube somewhere.

I replaced the Badass on my Highway One Jazz with a Babicz. Love it!

  17. Vintage threaded saddle is the way to go.

for me too, but still, any bass bridge cutting strings is pretty unusual.

this has to be a minor fix if it's just done right.

Agreed - BA bridges are not known for causing strings to break...
