HILARIOUS Ebay P-bass

He responded...

"...so if you don't like my auctions and you think I'm pricy, there are allot of fender basses on eBay to choose from...but you won't find a hand built beauty like this one.. I picked each part and they cost too...

Technically, aren't ALL basses hand-built...or at least hand-assembled? Or is this one somehow special?

He responded...

"What is ment by unplayed, and everyone in the music world knows this, is that is wasn't bought, taken home and used in a band, ever...if you go into GC, doesn't everyone try the guitars out, they are still sold as unplayed...

...and they come with a warranty.

So, if I take my Frankensquier, and never play it in a band, is it still considered new?

The fact that he dropped a $1000 says a great deal. He didn't put any time into it; he didn't hunt any parts. he stamped a Japanese neck-plate and found parts as they arose. It's not even worth $900. It's essentially a Japanese Fender & should sell at that level ($6-700). But the guy is seriously flaky; I wouldn't buy from him in any case for $400 as I couldn't play the instrument prior to purchase & he pitches the item too much...... It would be somewhat entertaining to have a dozen people make very small offers but I bet that's what will happen anyway. And one poor SOB will actually pay $1000 and then find a problem unmentioned in the gent's dialog like the neck's a touch off center (woooo....).

The only thing that is for sure about the whole thing is that it's a Highway One neck....Who knows who made the body.Look at the neck pocket pic.I kinda looks like plywood, but that could just be the grain.

And he keeps stressing that it's alder..Am.Std. P basses are made of alder fer cryin out loud.

And he said this in an answer to another question "not a GC fender, made with pine and cheapo parts"...:hyper: That is HILARIOUS!

He's a real piece of work. The spelling and grammar on his eBay listing are about on a par with a second grader. Besides being full of BS he also appears to be crazy. "Percision" is my favorite. And he repeats it several times.

The best part really, is the answers to the questions at the bottom. He doesn't actually answer any of the questions. Maybe he's a politician?

Maybe this is is therapy for his mental illness. He should stick to medication and take more.

Someone needs to explain to this guy how "value" works. Sure, you can perceive the value to be exponentially higher than it is. But the actual value of a parts bass (or anything else for that matter) is ultimately decided by how much someone else is willing to pay for it. I don't think he's necessarily malicious, just utterly clueless.

Edit: I take that back. There's some serious BS with that neck plate. Anybody with a set of basic engraving tools could make up a reproduction like that.

I sent him an e-mail saying how much I enjoyed his humourous listings.
Needless to say, he sent me a reply that would not be appropriate to post here.
Check out his other items, some are even crazier than the bass.
Even his feedback must be from friends or faked, no way anyone would pay 30$ for a metal tremolo bar.

Lulz.

I'd pay that for it if he had the original 1961 neck SCREWS, but just the plate??? Nah. Pass. The screws are where the vintage tone is.
:D:D:D

For a moment I thought of subscribing to the man's vids, but only for a moment... it's too far out for me, and then it isn't funny anymore... just sad. All one can do is hope that NO ONE buys one of those instruments.
