In 1963 my dad bought me a 1962 Fender P Bass, back then they were 250, and an Apeg B 15 bass Amp. I played in A band for 9 years with it and in 1973 sold it and sorry I did. Vintage wasn't as popular then.. so it has been my dream to build one. After years of playing and making Albums/CD's I got disabled and went into this business of buying selling, restoring/refurbishing and building Strats and other Fenders.. my expertise is the base, Being a machinist to carpenter owning my own company, after my permanent disability I decided to build my long lost bass.. I sought the net and found a ver RELIABLE FENDER seller and paid dearly for this 1962 RI Authentic body. Before I made the P bass, I was going to put an authentic Fender brand new Jazz bass neck on, as I explain in the auction. Well the only USA American neck that wasn't Japanese I could find that came close to the 62 RI was this US serial number 2010 Fender neck with the hex key trus rod adjustment screw at the heel, like the 62. I also bought brand new 62 RI Pickups and installed brand new CTS pots.. All the pictures inside and out is in the auction by clicking the link... I can't find a US 62 RI, I did find a real 62 the guy wants 1699 for, I was tempted to buy it and put it on for it all to be authentic 62 ri... cloth wire and all.. but like I said, I'm disabled and I cant't work a regular physical job. I made a G&G brand new case to look like the original too by adding a Fender logo to the outside lid. I tell you as a musician, song writer, one published album in 1979 as a bassist. This is the closest sounding 62 Leo Fender P bass I ever played that compared to my original 62 in 63. The price is more then fare for a real bass.. the crap they're selling out there, man, but that's what I do now, check out my site
Invalid Link Removed One more thing,, what inspired me was the three tone sunburst, the nicest I ever saw appart from the original baked on finishes back in the day...
hi, here is a youtube I did, you can hear somewhat of what the bass sounds like, but remember it sounds deeper and better live because I using a Sony handycam... I took it off my regular tubes because when I bought the neck I didn't see the hex in the trus rod adjuster and thought I had a real US 62 ri, found out I had the new Fender P bass neck. It feels like it has the vintage appointments. There were som craiglist types giving me a hard time because they seen the grains on the side in the neck heel going sideways and emailed me and said it was plywood... I am putting a new picture up that shows the grains going up at the butt of the heel (never saw plywood do that, expecially as a former carpenter) and the grains coming down the heel. So I believe this is solid Alder as the Seller Reliable Fender stated in his auction when I bought it.. Because I'm disabled this is what I do, I'm not making allot of money but it keeps me busy.. here is the you tube I took off... I was on my pain medication at the time acting like a jerk so pardon me... I can't find another body like this and it took me years, I was selling it for 2800 and some finances came up so I'm taking a loss... here is the address for you tube.
