Hilarious

no honey, you shouldn't be worried at all. russia didn't invade georgia, they invaded a breakaway province in south carolina. georgia is pretty safe, because as all americans and intelligent russians know, there's nothing there worth invading to get. the russians can get cheap bourbon, pickup trucks with confederate flags and syphilitic hookers right there on the streets of moscow, they don't need to come over here for that.

This makes my day. :D

I work in the hotel business. I used to run the training department. We used to teach telephone representatives geography.

You would be amazed how many high school gradulates that could not pick out Russia on a map, let alone Georgia.

Favorite comments I overheard:

"Seattle is in Washington? Where the president is and all?"

"I don't need to know the time in London, I know what time it is."

"This is stupid, why doesn't everyone just speak English, it would be alot easier."

I kid you not.

I had a friend in New Mexico order something over the phone once and the girl on the other end wanted to charge him for foreign shipping outside the US. She refused to believe New Mexico was a US state. Jeesh.

Georgia invasion:

This was going around email last week:

Just Heard This On The News

All of the Wal-Marts across Tennessee sold out of ammunition yesterday.

A reliable source said that one of the purchasers commented that "Russia may have invaded Georgia, they sure as hell ain't doin' it to Tennessee"

I suspect that this is either a joke or just a particularly naive and or slow individual. Maybe just a young kid or the like.

I doubt it's a joke, it seems like they deleted it as out of embarrassment but It may have been someone young. I love how they kept spelling Russia. RUSIA I DON'T SEE NO TANKS NO WHERES

Googling it I think it was just a hilarious joke.

I love stupid people. They're job security for me.

They keep me employed as well, but I find it hard to appreciate them.

I come down on the side of hoax. Even someone who spells that badly should be able to spell the name of his state. 'Georegia' makes me think prank.

But I HAVE definitely encountered people every bit that stupid. Usually they're bleeding when I meet them.

Incredible.

Lmfao:

"Dammit! Russia beat us to teleportation technology! Ok! This has happened before! Here's what you do!

A: Get every bottle in your house and fill it with water. Russians melt when they make contact with water! I learned this from 'The Wizard of Oz'
B: Run in the direction of the nearest large body of water! If there is none nearby, see B2
B2: Call the police, they will send fire trucks to your location. The fire trucks have high-powered hoses that instantly destroy anything Russian made.
C: Wait for already said forces from Michigan to come. It has already been reported on the news that their private army has been equipped with the latest Super-Soakers. They will be moving out as soon as possible!
D: Change your radio station to 94.2FM, they will be giving evacuation locations.
E: If you do not have access to a radio, phone, or any other source of communication, find the nearest fire hydrant and open it. Michigan forces will be looking for water blasting into the sky, and will come to you immediately
F: If all else fails, hide in the nearest enclosed area with a knife. Russians have no ability to open doors and will attempt to slide underneath it. When they do, strike!"

I was crying. Hilarious.

Back in high school, I remember trying to convince one of my teachers that there was a Georgia in the Soviet Union. He never really believed me. I think I might have gotten to where he believed there was a place that sounded kind of like Georgia. But he was sure that I was wrong. It really irked him when I tried to tell him that the pre-WWI rulers of England,Germany, and Russia were all first cousins. And that several other countries were ruled by very close relatives of theirs.(Denmark, Belgium,Holland...etc) HE didn't buy that either. He agreed that they were probably related if you went back far enough, but in no way could they be as close as I was saying.

I hated History teachers who didn't know their history and refused to believe that I might know mine.

Never underestimate the sheer stupidity/cluelessness of humans...

Confessions of a travel agent: stupid questions said:
A nice lady just called. She needed to know how it was possible that her flight from Detroit left at 8:20am and got into Chicago at 8:33am. I tried to explain that Michigan was an hour ahead of Illinois, but she could not understand the concept of time zones. Finally I told her the plane went very fast, and she bought that!

I got a call from a woman who wanted to go to Capetown. I started to explain the length of the flight and the passport information when she interrupted me with "I'm not trying to make you look stupid, but Capetown is in Massachusetts. "Without trying to make her look like the stupid
one, I calmly explained, "Cape Cod is in Massachusetts, Capetown is in Africa." Her response ... click.

A man called, furious about a Florida package we did. I asked what was wrong with the vacation in Orlando. He said he was expecting an ocean-view room. I tried to explain that is not possible, since Orlando is in the middle of the state. He replied, "Don't lie to me. I looked on the map and Florida is a very thin state."

I had someone ask for an aisle seat so that her hair wouldn't get messed up by being near the window.

A client called in inquiring about a package to Hawaii. After going over all the cost info, she asked, "Would it be cheaper to fly to California and then take the train to Hawaii?"

I got a call from a man who asked, "Is it possible to see England from Canada?" I said, "No." He said "But they look so close on the map."

Another man called and asked if he could rent a car in Dallas. When I pulled up the reservation, I noticed he had a 1-hour lay over in Dallas. When I asked him why he wanted to rent a car, he said, "I heard Dallas was a big airport, and I need a car to drive between the gates to save time."

A woman called and asked, "Do airlines put your physical description on your bag so they know who's luggage belongs to who?" I said, "No, why do you ask?" She replied, "Well, when I checked in with the airline, they put a tag on my luggage that said FAT, and I'm overweight, is there any connection?" After putting her on hold for a minute while I "looked into it" (I was actually laughing) I came back and explained the city code for Fresno is FAT, and that the airline was just putting a destination tag on her luggage.

I just got off the phone with a man who asked, "How do I know which plane to get on?" I asked him what exactly he meant, which he replied, "I was told my flight number is 823, but none of these darn planes have numbers on them."

A woman called and said, "I need to fly to Pepsi-cola on one of those computer planes." I asked if she meant to fly to Pensacola on a commuter plane. She said, "Yeah, whatever."

A businessman called and had a question about the documents he needed in order to fly to China. After a lengthy discussion about passports, I reminded him he needed a visa. "Oh no I don't, I've been to China many times and never had to have one of those." I double checked and sure enough, his stay required a visa. When I told him this he said, "Look, I've been to China four times and every time they have accepted my American Express."

A woman called to make reservations, "I want to go from Chicago to Hippopotamus, New York" The agent was at a loss for words. Finally, the agent: "Are you sure that's the name of the town?" "Yes, what flights do you have?" replied the customer. After some searching, the agent came back with, "I'm sorry, ma'am, I've looked up every airport code in the country and can't find a Hippopotamus anywhere." The customer retorted, "Oh don't be silly. Everyone knows where it is. Check your map!" The agent scoured a map of the state of New York and finally offered, "You don't mean Buffalo, do you?" "That's it! I knew it was a big animal!"
