Hipshot KickAss bridge

Hey everyone - some thread revival as I can't find the answer to my question.

I currently have a 3 hole LQ Badass. I see mention that the Kickass saddle can be purchased as separate items and that they are compatible with BA 1 and 2.

Are they also compatible with BA 3 does anyone know?

Apologies for quoting myself - just to be clear it's a 3 hole Badass 3 that I currently own.

Do the Kickass saddle fit this bridge?

On my Geddy I’m using a BA II bridge with KA saddles, with the steel inserts. I like this combination.

I have not been able to find any information on whether they’re compatible with the BA III. The Hipshot site only mentions that they are direct replacement for BA II and BA V.

Sorry, got distracted with some breakfast.

Answer: Yes, they will fit, but you will need shorter screws and maybe springs, and it’s possible you could run out of intonation room on the E string. Other than that, they will work fine.

I’m considering getting a P bass and putting this bridge on (which I have on a squier PJ JAGUAR) but wondering if it’ll be weird how close it is to the bottom edge of the body. Almost looks like it’s hanging off. Maybe it doesn’t matter? You have any thoughts on this?

It doesn’t matter functionally. It might bother you aesthetically, but only you can answer that.

They don't hang off the end of the body. Two thumbs up on the functionality and adjustability. Big improvement over the stock, bent metal bridge.

The p bass I just got is a MJT aged body with a Mexican neck. I believe this bridge is aged to look old and beat up. I think it looks pretty sick on there. And it sounds amazing. Action seems a little higher than I’d like though. Is this the type of bridge you’re saying it’s a big improvement on?

Yes, big improvement over bent metal bridge but won’t look old and beat up so that may affect your opinion.

Based, on your picture you have at a minimum, a string spacing issue which may affect your play. If you can’t get action low enough by dropping the bridge saddles you may need to do some combination of adjusting the truss rod to remove some relief from the neck and/or use a spacer under the neck to raise it up just a smidge. Nothing fancy about the latter — I’ve used a cheap/thin business card to get the job done. I’m sure you could find something on YouTube to instruct you if needed.

It looks like your saddles are tilted. You need to flatten them out.

Just got one of these on my lakland hollowbody. Gotta say that it exceeds expectations. I kind of thought that it was going to be way too big etc.. but in person, it's actually an elegant bridge. It's a little big, but I kind of like that there is so much surface area contact with the bass. Highly adjustable.
